Mint Julep

This official drink of the Kentucky Derby. Chilled Bourbon, mint extract and a touch of sugar served with crushed ice in a frosen metal tin.

Glass:

Garnish: Two mint spring

Ingredients:

  •  60 ml Frozen Bourbon (from the freezer)
  •  5 ml mint extract
  •  5 ml sugar syrup

Method: Combine all ingredients in a frozen metal tin, fill 2/3rd with crushed ice and stir, fill up with more ice and stir again. Serve with straws that are maximun 1 inch longer than the tin. To obtain mint extract macerate a bunch of mint in the content of a bottle of Bourbon, strain and press (bruise) the mint extracting the oils. Use the same Bourbon in the drink.
